Snapshots (2015 Book Blogger Love-a-Thon)

I'm back today for Day 2 of the Love-a-Thon to talk about my bookshelf! I currently own one (thank you, Target!) and although I've started to randomly stack books on other books, I am okay with it. I'm not too picky with how it looks anymore, I've started to enjoy reading the books more than just admiring their spines :)

As you may be able to tell, I attempted to organize my books by color (except for the top shelf, which generally holds the books/authors I love and books I have to get to ASAP, and the bottom, which is just a mess.) I find this to be most visually pleasing and don't really mind having my series separated.

I wanted to share my bookshelf in all of its messiness so I could ask you—which books are your favorites? I made a new goal to read a book on my shelf for every ARC or library book read, and would really love to know what I should tackle first. If I end up with a dull book—I really hope that doesn't describe any of these—I'd probably have issues continuing my plan.

I've loaned out a couple of books to some friends so if you'd like to see a list of all the books I own, I've sorted them together in this Goodreads list. I've only read about 50 of the ones pictured, so your chance of choosing something I haven't read should be high :p

Thanks for stopping by today! I have one more mini-challenge to share in about four hours, so look forward to that.

  1. I love bookshelves sorted by color! BUT how do you find them?!?! Several series I have are different colors for each book. How do you do it??

  3. Your colored bookshelf areas are beautiful! I've been wanting to reorganize my shelf that way for a while, but I'm afraid of separating series. I'll probably end up just going with it, though. I would recommend reading Burn for Burn and Throne of Glass, if you haven't read those yet. :)

  6. I love the way you organized your books! I used to have mine by color but then they got kind of messed up. Might put them that way again - it looks so pretty!

  7. I love how so many of us have adopted organization by colour! Haha. It looks so cheery and makes the colours pop so wonderfully <3 I say, read Angelfall! Prepare yourself for the final book in the trilogy, which comes out soon! You won't regret it ;)

  8. The only books I owner Christmas picture books and classic novels from childhood. All the books I read are from the library, but once in a while I'll buy a kindle or nook book. I wouldn't have room if I kept every book I read.

  9. Your bookshelf is so pretty!! I'm at the point of needing to buy another one. lol #Booknerdproblems I'm really picky about how I have my books. I usually put them from tallest to shortest. I'm trying to be less picky though because it's seriously the only thing I'm OCD about. Ok soo I recommend reading (If you haven't already) I'll Give You the Sun, Cinder, Broken Hearts Fences & Other things to Mend.

  10. I love the shelves that are organized by color. I think I kind of want to do that with my shelves but then I worry that I won't be able to find what I'm looking for when I want it.

  11. If I had as many books as you, I'd definitely take the trade-off of separating series to have a colour gradient effect on the shelving--it's pretty rad!

  13. I love the look from bookshelves on color, but it would drive me crazy. I want my series and books by the same author together :p Favorites from your shelves: Cinder, Scarlet, Shadow and bone, Siege and storm, Throne of glass :)

  14. I've always wanted to organize my shelf by color, but I have to have the series next to each other. I love yours though. :)

  15. That's soooo gorgeous! :D :D The colours are all so pretty. I love all the pale/pastel whites and pinks and blues on the middle shelf especially. I can't quite make out any books that I really love on there but I'M SO EXCITED TO READ I'LL GIVE YOU THE SUN.

  16. I loved getting a chance to see your shelves! I think it's so cool that you arranged it by color, as it's such a visual treat to see them displayed that way. I wish I could do it, but I think my OCD (about series especially) might kill me.

As for books I think you should read? Definitely the Fire and Thorns series, the Newsoul series, Nowhere But Home, Wanderlove, Across a Star-swept Sea, the Percy Jackson series, Along for the Ride, Just One Day, The Lunar Chronicles, Throne of Glass, Such a Rush, To All the Boys I've Loved Before, the Summer series, Since You've Been Gone. (Clearly, I went through your Goodreads shelf.)

  17. I love seeing how everyone organizes their shelves! I'm the Type A alphabetical girl myself. LOL. I love the color scheme though! I like your idea of reading a book from your shelf for every ARC you read. That's a great idea!

  18. Sigh...your bookshelf is so lovely. So many amazing books too! Thanks for sharing!

  19. Gosh, your bookshelves are so pretty. I love that you organized your books by color. This is not something that I would be able to accomplish. I mean, you even have it organized so that the color of the books fade in to new colors!

I sadly do not have any bookshelves...yet! All of my books are stored in small-ish crates. I've done A LOT of moving the past few years, and I haven't bothered to unpack most of my stuff.

  20. To be honest, it doesn't bother me much! I only have one bookshelf, so I wouldn't have to search very far anyway :p I generally remember the color of each book I own!

  21. Thanks, Lee! It's very fun and a bit therapeutic :)

  22. Thanks, Alexandra! It took a million bookshelf changes to get to this! :p

  23. Thanks, Claire! I was also afraid to separate my series, but I had some height problems so I decided to just arrange by color. I have not read Burn for Burn OR Throne of Glass yet, so I'll keep that in mind! I'll probably get to ToG in March or April :)

  24. That last shelf though ... *twitches*

I LOVED seeing how you organize all your books, and I love that you are able to have a little reading nook!

  25. Thank you, Stephanie! You should give the rainbow a try if you ever get the chance to!

  26. I have a feeling that my bookshelf will eventually get to the point of messiness, but YES! Take some time to put them all pretty again :)

  27. I have tried too many ways to organize my books, and rainbow was the one that made me the happiest! Alright, Angelfall is going on my "you-better-read-this" list :)

  28. Utilizing the library is a great thing to do - it saves a ton of money and you don't have to feel guilty if you bought a book and ended up hating it.

  29. Thanks, Regina! I also need to buy another one, but I currently do not have room to put it anywhere. I read Cinder last February and loved it, but I haven't moved on to Scarlet yet :x

  30. Hi Rebecca, the best way to go about doing that is separating your series from stand-alones first and just "rainbow" the stand-alones :) That should make things a bit easier!

  31. THANK YOU JOEY! I've since changed my bookshelf (again) but I think I need to change it back ...

  32. Thank you, Tessa! Things organized by color are always pretty to look at :) I know it's over, but I hope you enjoyed yourself during the Love-a-Thon!

  33. Hi Mel! I loved Cinder so I definitely need to read Scarlet soon! Are you all caught up with the series? Throne of Glass is another one I need to get to soon, but I'm scared I won't like it!

  34. A ton of people have been saying the same thing. I've changed my bookshelves again to have my series stick together, but it looks a bit messy now :x

    ReplyDelete
  35. Thank you, Cynthia! I still have to read I'll Give You the Sun!!! A ton of people have been naming this one of their favorite books, so we really need to get on it :p

  36. I'm struggling to see my series separated, but the colorfulness makes up for it :p I laughed out loud when you said you went through my shelf — I am honored that you would spend your time picking out the best of the best for me!

  37. Thank you, Jessica! I wish I could be the alphabetical girl, but I have such a problem with making sure it's pretty :(

    ReplyDelete
  38. Thanks, Jackie! I always move books around from time to time, but I think this is my favorite arrangement. I hope you get settled soon and get a nice bookshelf :)

  39. I am. I've read every book and novella available from that series now and I can't wait for Winter! I think Scarlet is my favorite installment, because we get to see Scarlet & Thorne for the first time :) My favorite characters.
