Top 10 Books on My Fall TBR List

Monday, September 22, 2014

I don't know why I always torture myself by making these TBR lists (because let's face it, this is more of a list of books I won't be reading haha), but here's one for the near future. I brought all the books that have already been released with me to college, so I should be able to read at least one or two of them, hopefully ...

1. Winterspell by Claire Legrand
I will DEFINITELY be purchasing this book and reading it this fall — the cover is beautiful, the synopsis is heart-pounding and it's inspired by The Nutcracker. I LOVED Mickey's Nutcracker as a child (please tell me you've seen it too) so I have a good feeling about this one! I'm hoping to read it with Rachel over at Paper Cuts :)

2. The Vault of Dreamers by Caragh M. O'Brien
I was exposed to this book through a giveaway on Goodreads and was immediately hooked to the description. There's just something about not doing what you're supposed to do and stumbling into something fishy that intrigues me.

3. A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray
THIS COVER. THAT IS ALL.

4. My True Love Gave to Me edited by Stephanie Perkins
It is a MIRACLE that I have been allowed to read this book via NetGalley. Just seeing the list of authors who have written a short story in this anthology makes me giddy.

5. Pivot Point by Kasie West
I have wanted this book for a really long time but couldn't justify spending $13+ and then I finally found it on Book Outlet, but I haven't read it yet. I know, something's wrong with me. I let one of my good friends, Esther (HI ESTHER), read it and she really liked it. So now I MUST read it to discuss with her :p

6. The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken
I discovered this book when I first started watching booktube and bought it in January, but I haven't been in the mood to pick it up. I think I'm hesitant to pick it up because it has received so much love and I don't want to be disappointed.

7. Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
I wouldn't consider myself as someone who reads fantasy, but I think that could change with this one! I've heard a lot of contemporary lovers say they really like this one, so I'm excited to give this a try.

8. Scarlet by Marissa Meyer
I am terrible at continuing series, but I really want to continue The Lunar Chronicles because I've heard nothing but good things about Cress, the third book. I really should just read this one before I forget what happened in Cinder.

9. Just One Day by Gayle Forman
I wanted to read her books in publication order, but now that I've finished both If I Stay and Where She Went ... it's time for more Gayle Forman.

10. Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins
I wanted to read this over the summer, but it ended up on my shelf unloved ... this must be changed!

So there are the top ten books I hope to read this fall. I keep saying that TBR lists are nothing but trouble for me — I never stick to them because they're so ... RESTRICTING. This should, however, be a safe list because most of the books I mentioned have received lots of love from book bloggers and readers in general.

Are there any books I mentioned that you really loved and would read again, for the first time, if you could? What are you planning to read this fall? Are you usually pretty good at following TBR lists? Is there are certain genre you like to read during the fall?

  1. A Thousand Pieces of Yous' cover alone makes you want to read it. It's so beautiful, and hopefully the story's just as good. A lot of those books are on my TBR too.

  4. YAY READALONG! I'm planning on buying Winterspell this week, so long as my B&N has it in stock. Otherwise, I'll order it! I'm seriously obsessed with the cover of A Thousand Pieces of You--I read on Claudia Gray's blog that there will be a preorder incentive involving POSTERS. I need to read Pivot Point and The Darkest Minds too!! I didn't love Throne of Glass, but I did love Crown of Midnight and Heir of Fire--so if you don't adore it, keep goingggg. :) YAY! Read Scarlet and then Cress! Cress is my favorite of the series so far!

  7. A lot of people have been saying they enjoy Cress but I haven't pushed myself to read Scarlet yet! It's been a while since I've read Cinder, so maybe that's why ...
