New on the Shelves, Vol. 1

Saturday, August 2, 2014

I thought it would be fun to start this feature (it's the exact same concept as "Stacking the Shelves", but I wanted to change up the name :p) and share some books I've recently bought/received in photo form. It's my attempt to be creative and interesting, haha.

I've been meaning to read Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout for the longest time, but I didn't want to buy it in the old cover because of the final book's cover change. Interestingly enough, the publishers decided to create a bind-up of the first two books (as well as a bind-up of books three and four) and call it Lux: Beginnings. I personally don't mind this change and am excited to have a copy for myself!

Four: A Divergent Collection by Veronica Roth was a must-buy for me. The novellas came out separately a while ago, but 1) the covers were disastrous and 2) I didn't like ebooks back then. To be honest, Four is probably going to be the only book (out of the three) that I may read in the month of August. I buy books even though I know I won't get to them immediately to have the option of picking it up whenever I feel like it. Is this the same with you too?

Everyone and they mamas have read Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas. I haven't heard a single bad thing about this book, so I would really love to start it. It'll definitely be something new for me (I don't normally read fantasy) but I thought I'd give it a try.

What books have you recently purchased or received?
Do you normally read the books you buy right away?

  4. I need to read more YA fantasy, so I may end up checking out Throne of Glass. It sounds pretty good.

I don't always read the books I buy right away, since I usually buy multiple books at a time. There are still books on my shelf that I bought in January and haven't read yet. Oops!

  5. Yes, read Allegiant if you've read the first two books!

  6. AHHHH, you need to continue the trilogy! I don't know whether it would be a good idea to read Four before Insurgent, but I know that the novellas have been out for quite some time now ...

  8. YES, ME TOO. I find it hard to get into though, just because it's a lot different from what I usually read. I still have books from a couple of years ago ... eeps.

  9. I have a feeling we all buy books without plans to read them anytime soon! I know I do, at least. I want it, and I want it now--heck if I'll read it in the next year or two (that happens all too often...) I really hope you like Throne of Glass! I actually didn't love the first book, but Crown of Midnight was absolutely amazing for me. (I have a friend who was the complete opposite, funnily enough!)

  10. Yep! I also buy them so I know I can pick it up whenever I feel like it :) I'm hoping to read it this fall because so many people have been talking about it. I hope you really REALLY like Heir of Fire then! Hehe.
